15 Months!

Lucy turned 15 months on September 30th and has changed so much since she turned one. I originally didn't think I would keep doing monthly "age/growth updates", but have now decided I will do them every quarter since she is still changing so much from month to month. One word could sum up Lucy lately...independent. I had no idea this would all start so early, but she wants to do everything herself. Put the lid on her sippy cup, feed herself, throw her diapers away, you name it and she would much rather do it on her own. Oh baby, you need to slow down- you are growing up entirely too fast! She just keeps getting more and more fun and each new stage is better than the last. I love that she's discovering her independence and her new sassy little personality, but also love that she's still such a tender and sweet little girl who loves to give her Mommy and Daddy "paci kisses".

Here's what you've been up to the past few months:
  • Wearing size 24 months clothes, size 4 shoe (you have pretty small feet for how tall you are), not sure how much you weigh right now since you've seemed to slim down quite a bit lately (probably around 26-27 lbs).
  • Talking up a storm! You are saying so many words it's crazy. Most of them are still really drawn out, but your Daddy and I definitely know what you're saying. Here are a few that I can think of- momma, dada, shuuuzzz (shoes), juuuzzz (juice), cook-cook (cookie), gungy (hungry), bahh-bye (bye-bye), baaa (bath), booook (book), pa-paaa (paci), miiii (mine), biiiii (bite), boowww (bow), burrr (bird), pup doww (puppy dog).
  • You are obsessed with her shoes and I mean it- completely obsessed. One of your favorite things is to get your shoes out and play with them and then you want to try them all on. You also love to get into our closet and try on my shoes.
  • Definite girly girl, but still my rough and tumble baby. You have definitely taken an interest in all things girly. Trying on shoes like I mentioned above, wearing all my jewelry, holding a purse and making sure you have a bow in your hair. As girly as you definitely are, you are still one tough little cookie thanks all the wrestling and rough housing from your Daddy.
  • Still occasionally biting, but thankfully that has pretty much passed for the most part. You are now starting to hit which is just lovely. I know this will pass too and thankfully the hitting is only happening occasionally and hopefully will not last as long as the biting did.
  • You've learned how to tell us you're sorry. You can't actually say it yet, but you know when you've been naughty and will grab our arm and hug and kiss us. I think you've already learned how to work us and I'll just say it's definitely working. But, it won't be able to for much longer. You are definitely starting to understand right from wrong, so more disciplining is going to have to start happening- not sure I like that part of parenting.
  • You absolutely love to dance. Anytime you hear music, you instantly start dancing. We can even start clapping and you'll do a few bounces and I have to say, you are quite the dancer. So much fun!
  • Definitely discovering your personality. You're becoming so independent and also trying to make us laugh. I love when you get so silly and just cackle and cackle, it's the cutest thing and no one can get you to laugh quite like your Daddy can. I just die laughing when the two of you get going.
  • You're really starting to love playing outside more and more. You've always loved being outside ever since you were a newborn, but are now hitting on the front door to go outside, or as soon as we get home from baby school she wants to go to the park across the street. I have a feeling that I'm going to have a love/hate relationship with that park. I love that is such a good park just right outside our front door, but I know as you get older we aren't always going to want to go to the park- but there's going to be no avoiding it, haha!
  • Starting to sing with us. You just starting doing this within the last week or so and you have the SWEETEST little voice. We've been trying to catch you on video, but haven't been able to just yet.
Here are a few pictures of Lucy playing outside after we got home tonight. It keeps getting harder and harder to get good pictures of her because she is just too busy all of the time. Love you LuLu!

Sorry mom, too busy for pictures.

Reesie of course had to come out and play with us.

This one just made us laugh. This dog is crazy, but we all sure do love her!

I don't want to pose for a picture Momma!

And, I'm outta here lady.

Ahahaha, I got away!!!

This is not the best quality picture, but I love this one! It shows her throwing her head back when laughs really hard. So funny and such a silly girl.

I'm coming to get you Momma.

I'm loving her little face in this one watching the leaves fall off the trees. She was saying "Ooooohhhh"!

...and, digging in the dirt!

Such a beautiful and sweet girl! I love how happy and sassy she is. I'm glad to know I have a little dance partner for the parties to come and that you all make each other sooo happy :). You are all lovely and I can't wait for the entire family to visit us in Dallas.
